When we first met, her builder grade closet was functional and large but the client’s concern was it lacked structure and the ability to section off areas by item type. So we put our pencil to it and came up with a beautiful, yet fully functional and sectioned design for both her and her husband’s sections!
We assessed what was stored in the closet, how she wanted to store it (whether in bins, baskets, hung, etc.), and obviously the measurements we were working with. At that point we determined a shoe wall was obviously necessary (and she used these amazing, clear boxes to store her shoes) along with lots of cubbies for folded clothes, shoes, hats and baskets. Cubbies help keep folded clothes organized and help the client to section off cubbies for sweaters, then another for jeans, etc. They really provide tons of organizational structure!
Her and her husband are also completely different in height so having adjustable shelves everywhere was imperative! Adjustable shelves and rods meant her hang section could be different height from his and they could change them if they decided to reorganize where the longer items were stored.
We chose a beautiful light gray for the design, called Morning Dew and installed gold drawer pulls to finish the look. She opted for Shaker style drawers, and although drawer style seems small it makes the biggest impact after installation! All selections gave the closet a modern look then she simply filled it with all her beautiful things and boom – a revived, modern, custom His and Hers closet!
