So your Slide out shelf install is coming up – so exciting! At this point you’ve waited roughly 5-6 weeks for your custom slide out shelves to be manufactured just for you and your cabinets. Well now you have your install date scheduled and it’s time to prepare your cabinets for your new pull out shelves. I’m sure you’re curious as to how you can prepare for your install and what things can be done beforehand to make install day easier for you and The Shelf King team.

Let’s outline some tips we recommend for how to prepare for your slide out shelf install.

Preparing for installation doesn’t have to be complicated! A few simple steps and you’l be ready for your new slide out shelves.

1. Empty
   1. empty all contents from cabinets – our team doesn’t need much space or countertop in your kitchen. So feel free to empty all your cabinet contents and place the items anywhere you find convenient
2. Clean
   1. if this isn’t a new house then we recommend giving those old cabinets a good old classic wipe down. There’s nothing better than having the peace of mind that your kitchen is starting on a clean slate!
3. Plan
   1. This step is optional and more of a suggestion for mental preparation. But we always suggest clients make a rough plan of where they want all their items to go after install is complete. Installing glide out shelves can increase cabinet storage space by up to 25% if not more and that means your pots, pans, pyrex’s, etc might not go back in the cabinet they once were store in. Now you’ll have more storage space and your kitchen essentials won’t have to be stacked. So creating a loose plan of where you want items, which cabinet, is the best way to go.

Lastly, we recommend filtering through all your cabinet contents. Now that you have everything set out – it’s the best time to do it anyways, it’s all in plain site! So go through all your cooking and baking essentials and donate duplicates or items you no longer use and free up even more space!
